I had a boyfriend in high school and one time he sat me down and said “I don’t want to break up. I just need to be alone and find myself and I’m not going to talk to anybody until I do.” I was like “wow, weird way to break up with me but okay.”
Who you are as a person is definitely something you should think about. Look at what you’re doing and be like “Is this who I want to be?” But that should be a small, day to day thing.
You’re not going to find yourself. You are not lost. You’re right here. There’s nothing to find. There’s plenty to create.
This boyfriend came back to me like a month later, after making himself miserable by sitting alone in his room trying to find something and he had given up. He made himself miserable for no reason. He didn’t find anything. He didn’t learn anything new abut himself at all.
Yes, reflect on what you’re doing and make sure it aligns with your values. Absolutely. But don’t waste your time trying to find yourself. Use that time and energy to create yourself.
